Piano: Some points you should know

So, you want to buy a new piano or upgrade your old piano. There are so many options when it comes to purchasing one of the oldest musical instruments, the piano. You have the choice of purchasing a new piano, a 2nd hand piano, or even a digital piano. There are so many choices and so many brands to choose from. But, be careful... there are also many traps along the way.

Does size matter?
It’s a mixed answer for this question.. Yes and No. Size/height of an upright piano does not really matter. The difference in pianos in relation to size, means that in an upright piano the soundboard and also string length are greater therefore giving the piano a richer tone and an increased resonant sound.

New or 2nd hand?
I will answer it in short and straight way, if you are new to this go for a 2nd hand piano.

Digital Piano or an Upright Piano?
The decision is completely yours as per your needs and demands

Advantages of Digital Pianos:
1) You get the options to plug the headphones so that no one can hear.
2) Volume adjustment is available, you can turn increase or decrease it.
3) The music which you play can be recorded on the playing instrument itself or to any other storage medium.

Advantages of Upright Pianos:
1) Your piano will hold its value over time and if it is looked after it will normally increase over a longer period
2) This kind of piano has a natural acoustic sound which is produced by the hammer striking the string and then it's being amplified by the soundboard.
3) This type of piano is made from wood and is very strong.
